The Society of Professional Journalists, Northern California chapter, recognized myself and my KQED collaborators Nisa Khan, Carly Severn, Alex Gonzalez, Darren Tu and Beth LaBerge for our work covering queer artists and activists speaking out for Palestinians. I am grateful to SPJ for uplifting the work and activism of the community. My deep thanks to photo editor Martin do Nascimento, and community organizers Hafsa Luvsa and Zara Ahmed, who welcomed writer Nisa Khan and I into their sacred space at a queer open mic during Ramadan earlier this year.
